With our state’s rich two-footer history, Maine will serve as host for the 2016 National Narrow Gauge Convention<\/a>! Convention activities will be based at the Augusta Civic Center Wednesday, September 7th through Saturday, September 10th. Well over 1,000 people from around the world are expected to attend the event! Along with Maine’s other two-foot railroads, the WW&F will be actively involved in the Convention activities, including:<\/p>\n

— Convention clinics at the Civic Center:<\/strong>
\n* James Patten will present the Past, Present and Future of the WW&F Museum<\/em>, currently scheduled in the Capital room for Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.; and
\n* Jason Lamontagne and Eric Schade will present the Restoration of WW&F Locomotive No. 9<\/em>, currently scheduled in the Pine Tree room for Thursday at 11 a.m. and Friday at 8 a.m.
\nPlease see the Convention schedule<\/a> for any updates to these clinics.<\/p>\n

— Our Museum will be open afternoons Monday through Friday, September 5th through 9th, with steam trains operating on the hour from noon to 4 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0We are normally open Saturdays and Sundays during the summer season\u00a0but we\u00a0will be open daily during the Convention week. We hope all Conventioneers will have the opportunity to visit our Museum the weekends before or after the Convention or during the Convention week!<\/p>\n

— A demonstration of our deep-throat riveter\u00a0will be made\u00a0Thursday, September 8th from 2 to 4 p.m. at our Museum. \u00a0<\/strong>This tool will play a critical role in the construction of new boilers for our existing steam locomotive no. 10<\/a> and new locomotive no. 11, a reconstruction of WW&F locomotive no. 7<\/a>!<\/p>\n

— A\u00a0special photo session will be staged Thursday, September 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. at our Museum to benefit the \u201c21\u201d Campaign<\/a>.<\/strong> \u00a0Tickets for this event are $21.<\/p>\n

— Shuttle buses to our Museum in Sheepscot.<\/strong> First Student Bus Company buses will depart the Civic Center for the WW&F at 9.30 a.m., noon and 2.30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with return trips departing the WW&F at approximately 11 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

— Museum table at the Convention.<\/strong> Our volunteers will be manning a table in the vendor section of the Convention. If you can’t visit our Museum in Sheepscot, please stop by and learn more about our Museum at our table.<\/p>\n

— Bus tour of the WW&F Railway route Friday, September 9th.<\/strong> As of September 3rd, we have a very limited number of seats left on the motor coach tour that will first visit a couple of locations on the Winslow branch, before stopping at Albion station and then heading south down to our Museum and Wiscasset. A 2-1\/2 hour visit to our Museum, including steam train ride, is planned. The tour will depart the Civic Center at 8 a.m. and is expected to return around 5 p.m. Included is a copy of the book “Tours of the Narrow Gauge Railroad in the Sheepscot River Valley” published by our Museum in 2007, along with a smaller booklet detailing the stops along the bus tour, plus narration of the tour. Tour cost is $50. If interested in attending, please stop by our Museum table at the Convention.<\/p>\n
