During Saturdays and Sundays in August, we will be operating steam and Model T rail car trains. Steam trains depart Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) at 10.30 a.m., 12 noon, 1.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. If crew and our rail car are available, our Model T railcar runs at 10.55 a.m., 12.25 and 1.55 p.m.<\/p>\n

Along with our summer steam trains, we have several special events planned in August:<\/p>\n

Saturday & Sunday, August 10th & 11th\u2014Our Annual Picnic, Yard Sale and Celebration of Our 30th Anniversary!<\/strong> We’ll be running two steam trains, and the weekend will also feature model T rail car and hand car rides, music by Bitter Brew Saturday, a yard sale, food & fun! Picnic Food on sale both days from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please join us to celebrate our Museum\u2019s 30th Birthday! Explore our Yard Sale! Our Yard Sale proceeds benefit our Museum Archives.<\/p>\n

Saturday, August 24th, 5 p.m.\u2014Music on the Railway, featuring the Sandy River Ramblers.<\/strong> The Sandy River Ramblers<\/a> are the second oldest Bluegrass band in Maine, having been established in 1982. Original members still in the band are Stan Keach and Bud Godsoe. Liz Keach, an original member, is semi-retired from music, but still subs for other members when needed. Keach, a 2019 inductee the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame, is the most widely recorded Bluegrass songwriter in Maine ever, having had many of his original songs recorded by big-name Bluegrassers, including James King, Audie Blaylock, Special Consensus, Danny Paisley, and many others. Tickets are available online at wwfrytickets.simpletix.com<\/a>. The concert will be held rain or shine under our tent at Alna Center station. Special train fares apply.<\/p>\n

Saturday, August 31st\u2014Our August Ice Cream Social.<\/strong> Take any afternoon train to Alna Center station and enjoy an old-fashion ice cream social! The ice cream is free for our tickted passengers. Regular train fare applies. Rain date: Sunday, September 1st.<\/em><\/p>\n

While there is a charge to ride our trains (except during Victorian Christmas), a visit to our Museum grounds is always free! Stop by any Saturday or Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in August to see what projects are underway and watch trains depart and arrive at Sheepscot station.
