{"id":2699,"date":"2019-08-16T09:32:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-16T13:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wwfry.org\/?p=2699"},"modified":"2019-08-16T09:33:05","modified_gmt":"2019-08-16T13:33:05","slug":"thank-you-amherst-railway-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/?p=2699","title":{"rendered":"Thank You, Amherst Railway Society!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wwfry.org\/?attachment_id=2698\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2698\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2698\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/20190814_195455.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2203\" height=\"1652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/20190814_195455.jpg 2203w, https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/20190814_195455-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/20190814_195455-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wordpress.wwfry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/20190814_195455-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2203px) 100vw, 2203px\" \/><\/a><em>WW&amp;F Railway Museum president Dave Buczkowski (left) shakes hands with Amherst Railway Society president Kurt Jellinek August 14th following the presentation of a $1,000 ARS Heritage Grant for our Sheepscot Car Barn Expansion project.\u00a0 The expanded car barn will become an exhibition space for the <\/em>Narrow Gauge Railway Collection<em>, a collaboration between the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum, Maine Locomotive &amp; Machine Works, and the WW&amp;F.\u00a0 Photo by Gail Buczkowski.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amherstrail.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amherst Railway Society<\/a> has presented a $1,000 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amherstrail.org\/ARS\/community-GrantProgram.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heritage Grant<\/a> to the WW&amp;F Railway Museum to aid in our <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.wwfry.org\/index.php\/topic,3497.0.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheepscot Car Barn Expansion project<\/a> now underway.<\/p>\n<p>The expanded car barn will serve as an exhibition space for the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwfry.org\/?page_id=2565\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Narrow Gauge Railway Collection<\/a>, a collaboration between Portland\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/mainenarrowgauge.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum<\/a>, Alna\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainelocomotive.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maine Locomotive &amp; Machine Works,<\/a> and the WW&amp;F.\u00a0 Aside from exhibition space, the expanded barn will also provide sheltered storage for the Maine Narrow Gauge Core Collection:\u00a0 Sandy River &amp; Rangeley Lakes Parlor Car <em>Rangeley<\/em>, SR&amp;RL combination car No. 14, Bridgton &amp; Saco River coach No. 16 <em>Mount Pleasant<\/em> and B&amp;SR caboose No. 32.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1991, the Amherst Railway Society has funded railroad preservation and restoration projects all over the United States.
