During Saturdays in October, our steam trains depart Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) at 10.30 a.m., 12 noon, and 1.30 p.m. We’ll also have 3 p.m. trains on the 5th, 12th and 13th.<\/p>\n

Along with our fall steam trains, we have several special events planned this month:<\/p>\n

Saturday & Sunday, October 12th & 13th\u2014Pumpkin Trains!<\/strong> Ride our steam train to Top of the Mountain, where you can can either board a hay ride or take a short walk to SeaLyon Farm<\/a>. At the farm, you can explore their pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkin(s) to purchase and take home, as well as participate in other fun activities. Train rides to, farm visit and return train trip will take about 1-1\/2 to 2 hours.<\/p>\n

Pumpkin Trains depart Sheepscot at 10.30 a.m., 12 noon and 1.30 p.m. Regular train fare applies. Advance purchase is required at wwfrytickets.simpletix.com<\/a>. Pumpkins and other farm products will be available for purchase at SeaLyon Farm, cash and credit accepted.<\/p>\n

Friday through Monday, October 11th through 14th\u2014Fall Work Weekend!<\/strong> Join us as we make history on the Sheepscot Valley Narrow Gauge during our 2019 Fall Work Weekend. Our volunteers will build 2,000+ feet of new track down the Mountain and across Trout Brook toward Route 218. Join members and friends from around the country as we complete our 3-4 mile railway extension which will open in 2021.<\/p>\n

Saturday, October 19th\u2014Ride the Rails to Hike the Trails!<\/strong>\u00a0Join the Midcoast Conservancy<\/a> to ride our noon steam train from Sheepscot to Top of the Mountain, where hikers will detrain for a 1 hour +\/- hike through the Conservancy’s Trout Brook Preserve<\/a>. Take the 2 p.m. train back and return to Sheepscot at 2:15 p.m. Regular train fares apply.<\/p>\n
