The Amherst Railway Society has presented a $1,000 Heritage Grant to the WW&F Railway Museum to aid in our Sheepscot Car Barn Expansion project now underway.

The expanded car barn will serve as an exhibition space for the Narrow Gauge Railway Collection, a collaboration between Portland’s Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum, Alna’s Maine Locomotive & Machine Works, and the WW&F.  Aside from exhibition space, the expanded barn will also provide sheltered storage for the Maine Narrow Gauge Core Collection:  Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Parlor Car Rangeley, SR&RL combination car No. 14, Bridgton & Saco River coach No. 16 Mount Pleasant and B&SR caboose No. 32.

Since 1991, the Amherst Railway Society has funded railroad preservation and restoration projects all over the United States. Through 2018, the Amherst Railway Society has donated a total of $794,373 to protect and maintain historical railroad artifacts, including several projects at Maine Narrow Gauge and the WW&F.
